We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

Egypt: Staging a “Democratic” Military Coup

Click here to access article by Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich from Global Research.

This author sees the hand of Empire manipulation behind the scenes of the recent Egyptian military takeover of government, and then poses the logical and critical question.
...one should ask why was it that Washington which has a long standing relationship with the Moslem Brotherhood rejected Morsi?
Her proposed answer was unlike any other interpretation of recent Egyptian events that I have seen, and her reasoning was quite convincing. See what you think.

Of course, others have also viewed the "Arab Spring" uprisings as being created and manipulated by the clever hands of Empire operators. It's my view that they have consisted of both manipulation and deep-seated discontent. They could not have been engineered without the latter ingredient. However, attempting to manipulate such mass content incurs a huge risk of blowback. But then, Empire directors seem to be exhibiting ever greater arrogance in their desire to rule the world, or else they are getting desperate.

On the other hand, who can blame them for feeling arrogant. After all, they have gotten away with assassinating a US president, a major and popular civil rights leader, the 9-11 event, lying about "weapons of mass destruction" to justify the invasion of Iraq, the Boston marathon bombing, and numerous other crimes while the American public remain mostly passive, docile, and gullible as they sink into ever greater depths of economic misery.
