We’ve lived so long under the spell of hierarchy—from god-kings to feudal lords to party bosses—that only recently have we awakened to see not only that “regular” citizens have the capacity for self-governance, but that without their engagement our huge global crises cannot be addressed. The changes needed for human society simply to survive, let alone thrive, are so profound that the only way we will move toward them is if we ourselves, regular citizens, feel meaningful ownership of solutions through direct engagement. Our problems are too big, interrelated, and pervasive to yield to directives from on high.

SecState Clinton to Foreign Leaders: “Dial Down” Criticism of Israel

from FireDogLake. Ain't it wonderful having women like Hillary as a leader of our country? This is truly feminism that we can believe in! [sarcasm] I'm just reacting to memories of the 2008 presidential campaign in the US when so many women were ga-ga over her candidacy for President.

The lesson from this is clear. We, the people, must politically grow up and not continue to allow ourselves to be manipulated by the governing class that likes to dupe us into supporting their appointed leaders.
